When I first started designing websites I looked at inspiring websites on FWA awards and tried to copy them. I tried pretty hard but I had a hard time getting better at it. There was a big gap between the things that inspired me and the things that I could create. I was just to junior to create high level experiences.
Things changed when I got a job at an ad agency. Every day there was the pressure to create new designs. I had to constantly design, interate, present, design… Instead of working on getting every design pixel perfect, I iterated until I got the design I wanted and the stakeholders wanted.
it thought me a valuable lesson. Just start creating. Don’t throw away the bad stuff, and iterate and show designs early to stakeholders.
